If you are looking for new ways of creating leads, you might want to check these Spin-the-wheel lead generation tools that offer your visitors a chance to "win" something in exchange of an e-mail address.
Reported Conversion Boost: 2% to 30%
The different software vendors report conversion boost from 2% to 30%.
Of course mileage may vary. But some tools do offer free trials, so it's something you can check for yourself.
Who is it for?
B2C Businesses
For Consumer-oriented businesses (B2C), like e-commerce, those tools are fairly straight forward. You can offer a discount coupon code to people that spins the wheel. It can be done right on entry, or as an exit-intent popup.
B2B
For software companies, this can be something to try. I think there are some ways of having an offer that relates to businesses: For example, the prize could be extra months of a free trial.

What to look for in a tool
I have compiled a list of different services offering a spin a wheel functionality. Here are a few things to look for when evaluating the tools.
Customization
Make sure the wheel allow to input your different offers
Colors and Branding
The need of branding might be minimal for those tools if you want to be very colorful, but some offers changing colors and fonts.
Page Targeting
Most tool have a Page Level Targeting so you can show your wheel only on the desired page. Geo Targeting can be great too and some of them offer it.
Psychology behind it
The psychology is very similar to what we see in casinos. The excitement of not knowing what we will get. On top of it, there are some cases where people are more likely to use something they actually won vs what was given to them.
Alternatives
If you have an existing Opt-in Builder, you can create a static image of a wheel, offer a signup box, and have a simple result page where you should show a coupon code for your best offer to your visitors.
I use WordPress and Thrive Leads, and an example is shown on this page.
Thrive Leads allows to have it shown as exit-intent pop-up, or a slide-in box. There are actually 8 different ways of displaying opt-ins.
